I came across this sign which I thought might be of interest here. It’s approximately 5 feet by 3 feet and in great condition with only a small loss of enamel in couple of places. Made by Falkirk Iron Co.

Google tells me that the ‘Lucas, Blackwright and Arkwright’s’ name on the sign dates it to between 1885 and 1896. Can anyone confirm?

One of these signs was found in an allotment a few years ago. Quite a strange sign - the illustration looks more 1960s than 1890s.

Yes I always think of a 1980's comic book when I see an example of this sign. Here is the dug one from April 2015 which appeared on here in a post that month

Horrible looking sign IMO. Best thing would be to bury it back in the ground from where it came.

I think it's a very weird sign because the illustration looks so much more modern than the date it was made. Interesting that Langcat likes it as it is rather atypical in terms of British signs; the grotesque slightly amateurish illustration in my opinion has more in common with European signs.
