Will's "Scissors" tobacco was introduced in April 1898 and is one of their oldest brands. Their cigarettes introduced around 1900 and still manufactured in India and Bangladesh.  I often wonder how they select their more unusual brand names like "Scissors"!!!!!! It is a little scratched and worn on top but quite a rare tin.

Oh my gdd. I never noticed that. I'm just going to pretend it's Welsh with their lack of vowels.

But seriously, is it a repro or was it just meant for the Indian market?

One school of thought is where the tins were printed in India by non-English speakers, they wouldn't be familiar with the roman alphabet and so may not spot the mistake. Some repro clocks from China had Westminster Bridge Road, Lndon or something similar for the same reason. Or it could just be a mistake! Nice things anyway...! Jez

Hi Jez,

I think you could well be right, non-familiarity with roman alphabet could well result in spelling mistakes on goods manufactured in India.
