A friend purchased this "Sinfield" showcard at the last Elsecar fair. Never heard of this company before and having made a few enquiries via Scarborough archives, it would seem that between 1890 & 1932, they are recorded as a wholesale and retail confectioner and Tobacconist with shops at 30 & 57, St Thomas St, & 75-76-77, Newborough St, 56 - Victoria St, 24- Sanside, 40- Westborough St, 10-Cliff Parade, 77- Castle Rd, 41-42-Westborough, 3 - Foreshore, 2-Aberdeen Walk, and 14, Huntress Row. That is a total of 11 shops in the area of Scarborough, which reduced to 7 shops between 1954-1958, in the 1960s 5 shops and 1971 - 1975 1 shop. Initially, they seem to dominate the market and there is no reference to tobacco/cigarette manufacturing. Mind you many retailers had there own brands manufactured for them. Anyone heard of this company??
