 Hi FB,

That Will's "Soccer" was one of my favourites and you have the pkt on yours which I could never find for mine. This Will's "Bulwark" figure was another favourite of mine.

That Bulwark figure is lovely Bacco. I need that one and the Pirate for a full set.
The 'Soccer' turned up in an auction in Lincolnshire in the 1980s and was bought by a well known toy dealer who sold it on to me for a hundred quid.

There you are FB the full set. Will's "Bulwark", "Pirate" and "Soccer". There were a lot of copies of the "Pirate" on sale at Newark Fairs.

Very nice Bacco... I also have the Wills's 'Fine Shag' top hatted man and the 'Early Bird' blackbird so I assume that there are five in the set unless anyone has any others???

Has anyone seen this version of it before?  Instead of roll and pigtail, it says roll and bogie, which I thought was unusual.

There's one more figure in the set, which is for Golden Virginia, I'll try and get a photo.

The rugby players and hurling are.Players figures if memory serves me right, made for the Irish market.

 Hi CDM / Lummox,

Had not noticed that variation "Roll & Bogie" on your Soccer figure before. Your both right, Player's promoted their brands to the Irish market by the production of Hurling & Football Figure's in each Counties colours and when you consider there are 32 counties in Ireland, 26 in the Republic and 6 in N,Ireland. That is a lot, if they all have Hurling & Football teams. I had one of these for many years until a collector in Ireland persuaded me to part with it and sent photo's of part of his collection.

I always thought GV as a hand rolling baccy, but it seems it was smoked in a pipe at one time.  This is the only one of these figures I've seen, it's from 1937, the same as the other figures.

Thanks CDM, I have never seen that one before in all my years of collecting. This has been a great thread. We can assume that there are six figures in the Wills's set - all pre-war.
