These containers are made from waxed paper. They were thought to be more hygenic than glass because they were used once and thrown away. They were also much cheaper to produce.

They are really hard to find in decent shape and it has taken me a few years to collect about 15 of them. I thought they were from the 1950's but I read an article on them and it said they were from the late 1920's to the early 1930's. They are all manufactured by the same company and when I photographed and enlarged their logo I saw the date 1932 on it. They were sometimes sold at sporting events and when you were finished with the liquid you could remove the ends and use it as a megaphone to cheer on your team or really annoy the person in front of you.

Had no idea they were that early. Thanks for sharing.

Here's a new addition to my collection that throws a spanner into the works. The delivery truck is from the 1950's so that means that these cones were produced from the late 1920's into the 1950's. Unfortunately the dates that appear on the company logo are so small and blurry that I can't accurately date them all but they are still pretty rare birds.
