When my dad and I had a butchers shop in the early 1980's at the top of Brockham Lane, Brockham , Surrey that garage - above cig machine - was literally 200 yards around the corner on the A25. Used to sell petrol etc, then stood empty for about 20 years before becoming a computer repair shop. Now for about the last 2 years its a small car sales plot. Small world

Love the attribution Lummox.

In 1966 I paid my first visit as a young schoolboy rock climbing on the Isle of Skye.

One wet day we did a little bus trip around various places on the island and went past what purported to be a petrol station in the Northern (remote) part of the island. I still recall seeing the single petrol pump, with globe atop, stood on its lonesome on a single lane road. Then - decades later.... what should be delivered to BBR for Auction but - that self same petrol pump. When I told the fella I knew EXACTLY where it was from he was absolutely gobsmacked.

Us collectors have encyclopaedic memories sometimes, lol!

Wonderful pick ups yesterday - 4 advertising cabinets (too wet to photograph them outside today), a Mitchell & Butlers advertising pub table, several coasters, more enamels, a great clocking in clock, bunch of scarce water jugs & a tip top matchstriker...

DJF has uncovered this old building advert fixture for Barbers Tea - which was a well known brand in Birmingham.

It is inevitable this event will need to be rescheduled given the current crisis/ lock down.

Being perfectly realistic at the moment my thoughts are:

1. April Spring Extravaganza now shifts to October - 2 days of auctions/ catalogue awaiting the go ahead.
2. May 31 Advertising & Breweriana Auction will slide into the proposed November date.
3. the 30th UK SummerNational - which would have been the BIGGEST ever Elsecar event... rescheduled (bit like the Olympics) to next July.

Can't get any pills in the cupboards for bottles of wine, beer & whisky Lummox!!!

Anyway - May didn't take place. In 10 days time we have a large collection delivery from the London area. I am considering making the November date rescheduled to a two day affair, quite likely still absentee/ behind closed doors, solely online - BUT - it will be a BIG SALE. Entries still being taken.
