Seems like May is now a total wipe out which brings us 7 weeks with no fairs.

June sees ICAF optimistic of running fairs although this will obviously depend on any ruling regarding gatherings of people? Newark scheduled for 4th. B2B seem confident that the June 21 flea at Malvern will be on but watch this space.

The new date for Peterborough clashes with the Summernational so some stallholders will have to choose what to do on the Saturday if the Summernational goes ahead?

We'll have to wait to see what rules the government will impose on events after May.

Reality must be the main order of the day for me FB as a responsible organiser.

Overseas cancellations for the 30th UK SummerNational - which would have been our biggest & best ever - kickstarted concerns. Then Barnsley Council announced 3 months closure of Elsecar Heritage Centre.

Lock down really will not be lifted just like that. Anyone 70+ yrs & those with underlying health issues will curtail so very many in our collecting fraternity. Watch BBR Auctions on Facebook for ongoing ®ular updates - Stratford (July 26) already cancelled.

Safety must be an organisers overriding first priority. We must all sit tight, self isolate, stay at home, stay safe..... we WILL be back!

I don't think anyone will be going to Newark ,or any other fair for that matter , any time soon . Even if it was on , would you really want to risk your life ? No thanks ! It will probably be 2021 before we're going to fairs again . It's a world-wide pandemic , nobody knows yet how all this is going to play out .

I just can’t see any type of social events like antique fairs returning to normal until everyone has the virus vaccine flowing around in their blood.

The other consideration is whether there will still be any functional organisers and physical grounds for holding these events still in business and not having been sold off for new housing developments.

I start to liken our world AV (after vaccine) in a similar post-apocalyptic way as following a large natural disaster or war, with the surviving infrastructure catering for life’s priorities first. It could take many, many years for the leisure activities we all enjoy to become available again.

I really hope I’m proven totally wrong, but I just have a feeling that the resulting new world order and powerbase is going to change big time into something far, far more worrying and long lasting than this virus…

Just seems strange... I've got a gang of builder's working on a house nearby as if nothing is happening and Wetherpoon's are suggesting they will be open again in June? Confused? We certainly are!!!

Not sure about Housing Developements under that scenario ??

If all these businesses disappear and millions or 100's of thousands lose their jobs

a) People won't be building or buying new houses by the dozen

b) Surely it won't be greenfield sites but Brownfield sites that could be converted from Offices, Manufacturing, Factories etc into affordable housing

Hi Brian . I'm not confused . Just resigned to the fact that there won't be any crumbs of comfort from Boris on Sunday . There's a long way to go yet and when we eventually come through this ,there's going to be a New World Order which we're not necessarily going to like . I admire your boundless optimism ,it's just that i'm unable to share it .

Sadly, I'm with you on this trixon.

Have a look at this:

This was filmed back in 2018 and you can already see their ambitions now happening in Europe.

I certainly don't like or support Trump for a minute, but you have to admit he has finally opened the eyes of world leaders, that have sadly been wearing the rose-tinted liberal glasses for far too long.
