Fingers crossed all can go ahead as planned in two weeks time.

Sunday Fair is effectively full - 9 on a waiting list.

Afraid there are some (Council imposed) changes which could put Elsecar events in jeopardy.

I am in the hands of both stallholders to READ & COMPLY with the changes (read confirmation words when they get them) and visitors to toe the line too.

Sadly prices may have to rise to meet increased charges too. York Car Boot is £50 and many of our stallholders already stand there! I am watching other event developments unfold as we move out of the Covid period.

In my local town of Gawler, yesterday was the states largest swapmeet. Or should I say usually the largest, very disappointing, probably only half the amount of stall holders.

Not sure if you guys have get mixed messages all time ? Here in South australia, we have got no cases of covid in the community, yet at the swapmeet masks were mandatory.

YET ! wednesday last week our horse was running at the balaklava cup and there were thousands of locals at the races, 98% not wearing masks, not forced to ? WTF !

I share your confusion fleece 77 with all the disparities here and there - same in the UK.

BBR's Elsecar location doesn't come cheaply and I have to pay the four figure sum IN ADVANCE!

If there are changes in rules & less folks attend my costs remain the same.

We requested donations in July rather than an entry fee - FLOPPED MASSIVELY - good four figure loss!

Waiting list for stalls on Sunday 3 October is now TEN.

Apologies to sound harsh but less than 2 weeks away "I always come".... "I told you I was coming...." does not help in organising an event on this scale.

We did an expensive mail shot to ALL past stallholders in Summer giving everyone an equal opportunity to book.

Not paid sadly means not booked. We basically have a full house
!

Disappointing people can't do the right thing and make a donation if requested. People need to remember these events don't happen by themselves, some is always putting in a lot of effort behind the scenes.

I hope I get a chance to get over there one day.

Wise words fleece.

Guess we learnt the hard way when running the Museum here at Elsecar... several thousand attendad a BIG SummerNational - only £7 in the donation box - resulted in the place closing down.

As the saying goes - you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone, lol!

All set for w/e - looks like our region is OK for filling for return trips.

You can't keep a good collector down - we're a resilient bunch?

BIG THANKS to all for such superb support both in stall numbers (the Council unfortunately stopped us extending stalls - could have exceeded 150 this time) & visitors from all over England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland.... and America too!
