I've got these few bits for sale if anyone's interested.  The two lemonade packets are empty. They measure four and a quarter inches long by two inches square.  They're priced at £22 each, the Star Salt is a sample matchstriker tin, that's £45, and the RN cigarettes are £30 the lot.  That's five packets of twenty still in their wrapping, and a single packet of 20 unopened.  All prices include postage.

When I first joined the RN in the early 70s you could declare as a smoker, you would then be eligible for 6 cigarette stamps per month. These would be used to draw your monthly allowance of ‘Blue Liners’ - 100 for 1 stamp as can be seen above. The stamps were often used as collateral for other things, or the cigarettes given as payment for favours. One of my jobs onboard was to issue the stamps, consequently I was very popular. Halcion days - when ships were made of iron and men were made of steel lol.
