Lummox, would you care to explain what you mean by this comment? Chippenham Auction Rooms is mine and my husband’s business. It is run honestly and a comment like this concerns me. I’m happy for you to respond publicly as you have with this comment 😊 Richard and I run every aspect of the business so I shall be able to address directly whatever it is you are alluding to.

regards

Tora

Hi Tora

I am not alluding to anything . Alot of items seem to go round and round at auctions , or turn back up in dealers stock when not sold as they do at all auctions. Not everything always sells, often there are reserves or is you auction different to everybody elses ? You seem to have jumped to a very negative conclusion about an innocent comment. Why was that ?

cheers lummox

Thank you Lummox for your response. We appreciate your explanation. I suppose Tora and I felt that by saying 'a lot of stuff at Chippenham doesn't 'sell'' firstly was inaccurate in that the majority of advertising items do sell but by putting 'sell' in inverted commas it suggested to us and perhaps others may have read it the same way, that you were inferring that we'd post some unsold results as sold when they hadn't which is not something we ever do. You can be 100% confident in our results posts. We don't need to pretend something has sold when it hasn't to boost our sales statistics, it doesn't help us or the vendor to suggest that it has. We also sell post-sale when our customers can see from the results if something hasn't sold. So our apologies, we must have read too much into the inverted commas.
Back to happy collecting 🙂

Hi Richard - I was following that auction 'live' through The-Saleroom.com and it was very disconcerting to hear the audio running up to 3 lots behind what was being shown on screen. Was this a problem outside of your control, or a glitch on the day?

Hi Steve,
It is disconcerting to hear that. A lot was sold online across the two days. Thanks for watching in :) I'm afraid the-saleroom.com is, as you expected, frustratingly out of our control. If I could encourage buyers to be in the room or on the phone I would but appreciate of course this isn't always practical or the way everyone likes to bid. The-saleroom.com send their own operators, we've kept to that rather than handling it in-house as we want the least chance of a glitch as possible. Unfortunately there are sometimes problems not helped by the fact 4G is a bit weak here.
Regards,
Richard

Interesting to hear about an auction selling advertising signs. Does anybody know how much they charge in selling fees or buyers fees? Do you have to add VAT on as well?
