I'm sure everyone saw these go through ebay recently.

Here's a pic I was sent of them all having just been found.

Cheers

Al.

I pity the buyer of the large Hudson's fingerplate at the Stoneleigh Railwayana sale (Lot 152) a fortnight ago - it was one that I had for a while (about 3 days) off ebay some years ago - I rejected it and the seller agreed to take it back and exchange it for one that was 100% better - I might have mentoned it on this site at the time. Anyway the first one was full of filler and repainting - IMO there wasn't much original enamel or metal left, it weighed about 50% of what it should have, hence the rapid return posting to the seller. Anyway it resurfaced at this auction @ £270 + BP etc. I get the feeling that a lot of folk are now buying into these enamels maybe not quie realising what they should be looking for, just like the 5 boys recently debated elsewhere on this site.

Just goes to show the risk we all take when we buy online rather than in person

Auctioneers description doesn't mean squiddly shit . looks like they took the pic with no flash on a dull day to hide all the restoration !! Still what should a nice one of these cost nowadays ?

I've got no reason to defend auctioneers but I think that particular example is fair enough.
It says it's had restoration + gives an estimate of £100-200; which I think is about right even for a heavily restored example of one of these - considering that a mint one would be over £1000 at least wouldn't it?
Also if you're going to bid on something you haven't actually seen then the responsibility for the risk is yours.
As for the example recently of that repro 5 Boys going for £600 - I think if you're so ignorant that you can't tell the difference you should really be spending your money on something else.

There you go, I told you Chris had been fishing ! he always reckons that if I trod in Sh*t there would be a £20 note stuck to my foot !!

Well with his luck at the moment if he trod in it, he would come up with a WAD of £50's !!

Great find Chris WELL DONE !!
