The sign is nice enough, BUT !! The price is a nonsense to me, $260,000 euro's.

Henk hasn’t posted for a while…he must have realised that continental/European signs are generally over designed and awful.

I got into a little spatt on FB with the auctioneer when I said it was a great sign BUT a crazy price !! He banged his fists on his chest in reply and did'nt take in or bother with my point of view ? He had been into signs for 40 years so knew it all !!

It summed it up when he justified it by saying " when it sold people in the room people stood an applauded " (ie) People with miles too much money, stupidly persuaded by all the hype, arse licking, elbow stroking etc into believing they should bid mad money. Just a mad trinket or bauble for people not living in the real world ....£2k for a ginger is bad enough !! LOL

The Arty Farty crowd Ross.

One guy dribbles paint on a canvas and it's worth $100.

Jason Pollock dribbles paint on a canvas, he's a genius and it's worth 10's of millions ?

At the end of the day I think a lot of old signs are like works of art, but in the end it's still an enamel sign.

My friends,

Did not react the last 4 weeks for i was on holiday and did not have acces to this forum on my phone!

There are two things about this sale. The people who bought it, are the guys who are organising the Egmond fair in Holland. Great guys who appriciate the beatty of this sign. Being in the best condition ever and being the nr. 1 sign in Holland, it made a lot of money. More then I expected, but who is counting ;-)

For years I have been telling everybody that signs will go the same way as paintings, cars(oldtimers) and Art. Good if you have a great collection now, bad for the new and young collectors. They have to settle for less great signs. But that is the same way with paintings, cars and art at the moment. And this will last, just like painting/art/cars. Things like Pokemon cards will fall soon down, just like coins and stamps. They just lay in the drawer, unlike cars/painting/art AND signs! Mark my words ;-)

And Ross, please forget about the Gorilla. He is a complete ass. Don't mind him Ross, he does not know better.

And for those who still believe English signs are better then Continental, I have just one word: Boehaaa

You were not doing too bad Henk until you mentioned Coins...

Good Coins have been a very , very good investment for many many years and ' Mark my words ' look set to continue !!

Small portable, easy to pass on to following generations without any fuss

And many of the higher types NOT subject to Capital Gains Tax etc etc

I have just one word like Henk ..............................Boehaa !!

But Fxxk knows what it means !! LOL

Not to mention it sucks as an enamel sign. Yet again no ones interested in the design differences between a sign and a poster. This looks like a metal poster. It doesn’t work as a sign. It’s too sophisticated and over designed.
