With some time to spare I managed to decipher most of the paper label under the lid and do a bit of research.."1lb sample tin Moss"s First Crop Tea 1/7d" W.B. Moss & Sons Ltd

info found from the web , census and trade directories . William Moss started at the age of 15 as an apprentice in a drapers shop in Hitchen Market Place In 1871 he owned a grocery shop. By 1899 his head office was in High Street Hitchen with two additional shops. He is described as a merchant, grocer, tea packer and blender..In 1908 the business was William Moss & Sons with additional branch grocery shops he had opened...In the 1912 directory he had become a limited company..The business was still in existence in 1937

Is this tin pre or post WW1 ?

Good info Ken
I've wondered about the origins of this tin .
There are only remnants of a label on mine
Possibly a generic tin used by different distributors

Thanks for the replies..It will be a generic tin ,picked from a catalogue and then their own label stuck inside. This doesnt detract from how busy and colourful the tin is .I think pre 1st W.W.
