Something doesn't quite look right. I don't like the perfect 1/8" brown boarder edge, similar to a lot of repros out of India. I'd have to see it in person. Fantasy sign = one that was never made but has been reproduced to deceive collectors. Happens a lot over here with oil and has signs

That is definitely not a repro.
It’s from around 1890.

Here you go Spence. Universal Bilston..... think it's Ralph and Jordan??

Further research to this image shows this sign located at:

Beamish - The Living Museum of the North

Stanley, County Durham, England, UK

Nice one, but is it a cut-out?

If it was cut out from a larger sign then I don’t think the makers mark would be following the curve round the edge like that.

Omi, but still looks dodgey to me, would really like to see it in person. The edges with that 1/8" red rust border looks all the world like those dirty Indian repops

But surely if it had been cut down the makers mark wouldn’t still be visible…the makers mark would have been on the edge of the sign and would have gone if it had been cut. Not to mention that the makers mark curves following the circular shape of the sign; which strongly suggests that was its original shape.
Universal Bilston is an interesting one…never seen that before.
