It is with great sadness that I inform you all of the death of fellow collector and Surrey Club member Steve Wickenden, a true gentleman

Steve passed away this week well before his time after a short battle with inoperable liver cancer. Although perhaps not ' well known ' on the collecting circuit he was a much loved,  respected & enthusiastic member of the Surrey bottle collectors Club.

Although you may not have known him by name, if you attended any of the Leatherhead Surrey Shows he would have been collecting your money on the door, helping with the displays, or generally working hard  around the show.

Over the years Steve amassed a fantastic collection of items from all areas relating to the Old Crystal Palace which was originally built to house the great exhibition of 1851. He was also a keen collector of R Whites items from Ginger beers to enamels and all things in between. Steve was one of those collectors brilliant at ferreting out little gems and un noticed pieces missed by others.

Steve's ready laugh,  enthusiasm and general ' good bloke ' demeanour should be a lesson to us all. I would just like to take this opportunity on  behalf of everybody to offer my deepest sympathy to Debbie and the girls.

Ross
