I am always on the lookout for loft finds, or what have you, or indeed anything connected with the Meccano Brands

Hornby, Dinky, Dublo, Bayko, Meccano.

Especially interested in what was available to Toy Dealers only.

Also interested in meeting like minded collectors.

I have been collecting Hornby Dublo Trains and Meccano ephemera items from the famous Meccano factory for over 25 years.

Contact Andrew 07918711782

Here are some of my items

Hi trainmanz

I picked up 37 of these Meccano magazines dating from the early 30's. I am not looking to sell them, partly because they would be too expensive to ship, but they are such nice things that I thought I would show a few of them. Is there anything you can tell me about them? They have some very interesting articles and the advertising inside is something to see.

Hi Vlad,

Issued monthly to young collectors, fairly common apart from the very early ones, Always got smashing covers and articles though. Early sets of Meccano in good nick can command quite high prices. As you know they went on to produce ' Dinky ' Toys, a massive collectors area in the UK

As always lummox I appreciate the information. I looked them up on Ebay to see what they sell for and it isn't a whole lot but the occasional one with a good cover was fetching about 10 pounds. The rest of them were selling for a couple of pounds or not at all.

Anyhow, I picked up all 37 of them for $70 Canadian or around 45 pounds. I am going to keep about 10 of the nicer ones and sell the rest this summer at the 3 shows I am doing. Should be able to make at least a few dollars profit and keep the nicest ones for nothing. There are some very interesting articles in them but the most interesting thing is seeing how inexpensive the toys were back then.

I often think about travelling back in time with a wallet full of money and all the cool stuff you could buy. With a hundred pounds even the smallest of shops would be a treasure trove of goodies. Even a trip to the local dump a hundred years ago would produce enough stuff to make you a rich man. Alas, it's only a fantasy.

Having some or all of the toys contained in those pre war Meccano Magazines would make me a very happy man indeed.

As has been pointed out not too rare unless in exceptional condition, but a great read for anything a boy back then could have been interested in.

If anyone finds one of these then I am particularly interested...

The following items I would love to own -

they came from a closed down old Sports & Toy shop that was a Meccano dealership in the 1930's

If anyone has these or see some can they please contact me.

Thanks Andrew

I would love to get my hands on some of these Oilcans or Grease tubes if anyone has some out there. Amazing what came out of the Meccano Factory!

Cheers
