I saw this early Russian tin listed on ebay a while back for $ 8600.00 US . A nice tin and late 19th c but wow that's a good ask .

It attracted no bids and was listed again for 1999.00 US . I lost track of it then , but I see that it is currently listed at 6500.00 US

Does anyone know of  any similar prices paid for British tins over the years ?

I have noticed this tin doing the rounds in the last little while and have wondered how the seller has come to his asking price(s).

The illustrations are "The Four Seasons" by Czech artist Alphonse Maria Mucha. He was largely ignored during his lifetime but has become wildly popular in modern times. Still, that is a lot of money for a tin.

The same seller has another tin by the same artist for much less. Granted, it is far less attractive, but I'm not sure why the large disparity in prices. Here's the link to that tin.

The link didn't work, but the item number and the title key words are there if anyone wants to check it out.
