I found a bottle, yardsaling and have looked all over --and tried the local shops as well--to find more info on my bottle.

Online I discovered this bottle looks very similar to a Hiram Codd embossed bottle but the print doesnt match any I have found pictures displayed. (posting pic, if I can)

The bottle says:(FRONT OF BOTTLE)

CEO CLAXTON (TOP) 27 CANWICK ROAD (MIDDLE)

LINCOLN (BOTTOM)

(BOTTOM) 4957

APPEARS TO BE A LOGO R C B (R AND B LARGER) C SMALLER IN CENTER  (NOT SURE IF THIS IS WHAT IT SAYS)

bOTTLE IS TINTED GREENISH (LIGHT COLOR)....APPEARS TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE, NO CRACKS OR MISSING PARTS/MARBLE STILL THERE.

Any information welcome....especially an estimated value/if any.

Thanks so much, ladiearkie

thats a aqua bulb neck codd bottle looks like a 10oz size. value depends on its rarity and the number of people after it. , if it was a chelt one and common it would be £2-£4, if it was rare it would/could be £30.

Worth having a look to see if there are many more where that came from though.

Don't be disappointed! You have a piece of local history, over 100 years old, in excellent condition, and it probably cost you a song!

TOTAL COST TO ME: 50 cents

This was the information I found online, bottle pic JUST like mine:

In 1872, British soft drink maker Hiram Codd of Camberwell, London, designed and patented a bottle designed specifically for carbonated drinks. The Codd-neck bottle was designed and manufactured to enclose a marble and a rubber washer/gasket in the neck. The bottles were filled upside down, and pressure of the gas in the bottle forced the marble against the washer, sealing in the carbonation. The bottle was pinched into a special shape, as can be seen in the photo to the left, to provide a chamber into which the marble was pushed to open the bottle. This prevented the marble from blocking the neck as the drink was poured.

This is why I thought it would be worth a bit, but its cool all by itself just being OLD.
