This year after making the move from Sunny Nunny to Birmingham I have been focusing on Midlands breweries as my main field of bottle and tat collecting. I have grown up around M & B pubs all my life and my father was an avid brew X1 drinker so many of the objects I have acquired I remember being behind the bars of the smoke filled tatty pubs my dad used to frequent.

I dont think any brewery left it's mark on a town or city quite like m & b did to Brimingham. There are many fine pubs with acid etched glass, tilework and stonework advertising their ales, and despite selling all of their pubs I would say 50% of the pubs in the west midlands have a leaping deer or their letters still stuck up somewhere.

There is plenty of stuff still about, so I have been hoarding it.

If you have anything you want to part with, please message me!!

Ansells Bottles, Various

Midlands, various

Mitchells & Butlers spirit flasks

1970's M & B beer bottles

Acid etched glasses, and later transfer printed glass

Flagon, fiver from preloved!

Transfer printed and labeled midlands beers

Ashtrays, beer trays and showcard

m & b beer mats

My much coveted party 7 cans. Ansells Caskette was the first ever party 7, and is worth as much as some green codds! The tatty M&B bumper is under a crude restoration, believe me it looked worse before, but they are realy really tough to get hold of

Random 20p shield and a rather nice T G Green ashtray

"shabby chic" mirror

Holt brewery was another large Bham brewery. They were bought out by Ansells, who adopted their now well known squirrel logo. This bottle is a Holts pre dating the merger. Alongside a Showells of Langley beer

Holt and Showells spirit flasks

Holt and Showells spirit flasks

Smashed Showells match striker, under restoration and starting to take shape after quite a while now!

I hope you enjoyed looking through some snaps of my mullock :hehe:

Hi. I am trying to pull together a catalogue of every British beer can ever produced. I am very interested in seeing photos of your old party cans (in particular the Ansells Caskette Mild can). Can you send them to me? Kind regards, Nick

By all accounts Trigg enjoyed his stay in the West Midland's. They say the clever old nag was capable of performing over 60 tricks!

Hi, dweeb, nice collection of Midland beer stuff, like the M&B mirror ,I grew up in Smethwick not far from the Mitchel & Butlers brewery at Cape Hill and drank Brew11 as a teenager,  I have entered an early cast iron pub table ( Mitchel & Butlers ) in the Bamber Books auction which was due for 31 May, don't know when that wil be now though, all original paint work if you are interested, I have a crown opener stamped Butlers, pre dates M & B not worth much but nice, also I have a large brass inkstand in the form of the Smethwick Malting building in Langley, Smethwick, dated 1922, unfortunately can't upload photos from my iPad to show you. Good luck with your collecting & stay sane & safe everyone, Regards Keith
