heres another one i done a few months back and am now happy with the rusting!

Here is the end result.... The cutting width was based on the distance from the edge of sign to the top and bottom of the 'S' and the 'B'

Cheers for this Chelt.

Do you use a polishing machine (random orbital) for the Cerium Oxide application or do you apply it by hand?

I’ve been experimenting with using fine ‘Bronze’ wool (get this from gun shops) and Brasso for cleaning the black gunge off, with some good results and will deffo get some of this Cerium Oxide polishing powder and have a go as a final finish.

Cheers Mate

Hey Chelt

Got a couple of enamels that have gone through steps 1 and 2 below and as soon as the winter gets further behind us and warms up, then step 3 is the next step

  1. First Cleaning – Astonish with a white scotch brite pad
  2. More Stubborn Cleaning - Bronze Wool (not easy to find) and Brasso
  3. Final Polish - Cerium Oxide powder using my random orbital polisher

I'm very interested to see the results of the Cerium Oxide powder as what you have achieved is very encouraging and looks fantastic.

Cheers, i use a new kitchen sponge. the green and white ones but the ruffer white side, i was thinking of doing it how you are going to, but haven't got round to buying the orbital sander, so it will be good to see the results of your cleaning, cheers ben
