Hi Mike
I have lots of toffee tins but I have never seen the Turnwrights tin before. I have seen the image before but can't remember where. I am certain it is an early Victorian painting and it sure makes for a great piece.
The Baby's Bottom tin is oddly disturbing. I think most parents would panic if they caught their baby doing nude push-ups.
Your Perique tin is an early American tobacco. The container was made by a famous and prolific New York manufacturer called Ginna & Co. They were in business from 1874 to 1907 so your tin is quite early. Genuine Perique tobacco was produced in a small, 3 by 10 mile area of St. James Parish in Louisiana. It was a very strong and earthy tobacco that was fermented under pressure for up to a year in hickory whiskey barrels. Hope that helps you a little.
