Found this sign while fossiling at lyme regis on the beach,its abit sad condition but have never seen anything like it before.

I have seen one of these before, but only as a young lad! I remember that along Clifftown Parade in Southend, probably as late as the 1970's, there used to be a blue-painted cast iron collecting box, set into the pavement. Mounted on top of it was one of these enamel signs, and the lifeboat image used to fascinate me when I went passed it! How evocative to see one of these again, after so many, many years!

Does anyone have a picture of one and was there a picture of a lifeboat in the middle of the sign.the sign is made by garnier and co and measures 17x8inches,any ideas of age. thanks for all your help chris.

btw how do you load pictures up.
