Hi Ossie, Not a huge story but here it is: about 12 or so years back we had a junk shop here in Kendal run by a guy called Barry Cross. Barry got loads of interesting stuff in and he was never greedy on price - in fact his upstairs cheap rooms were the source of many a bargain. The story was they had been used to block up a window, all were facing in and all had the backs painted with white gloss. I bought about 8 the last few were a bit raggier and one or two had holes through. That said as a small pictorial about 10 x 12 they were desirable. I wish I had kept one. Stopped collecting about 10-12 years ago and just about got rid of all my stuff including these. More recently I found the one I gave my late Father and sold that too (probably 7 years ago) ARGH! |

hi jez,
still a great story & they are a very nice sign, might have seen one on e bay for sale a long time ago. once found 5 frasers removal signs on an alottment, removed 4 as you do, one had a tree growing in front of it making it hard to remove, so i thought go back the next night with saw & remove tree, sadly the allotment holder had took a pickaxe to the sign. |

Hi Ossie, it really makes me wonder about allotment holder's mentality. I have seen 3 grands worth of bottle dug up 12" below the surface of an old allotment. Al. |

I'm just very glad your garage roof is quite high, looking at all those exposed sign corners!!!! A slendid array of subjects I must say. |

That's a typo rather than a spelling mistake. Not the same! |

There are two versions of the Strange's Crystal Oil sign. Same eye but completely different lettering. |
