Not At Auction

 Hi All,

Long term reader but first time poster.

Having been an avid antiques collector for sometime, I have been somewhat disillusioned by the process of paying auction fees and the process of sourcing (or attempting to source!) hard-to-find items...;.

With this in mind I wanted to introduce you to a new concept I am trialling called Not At Auction, set up with the aim of finding the exact collectables you are after quickly and easily (post a request and sellers contact you) without paying any auction fees!

Its completely FREE and very simple -  post a request of what you after with any background info/pictures and we will send it to over 2,500 sellers – we will then alert you with any matches for sellers that have your wanted items.

Please visit - http://notatauction.co.uk/ and have a go. It’s not just antiques but anything collectible.

Would love to hear any feedback you have on the idea and hope you enjoy using it! J

Thanks

The Not At Auction team

Hello,
Good Idea - Especially for those that have been searching for that elusive item and cant afford to go to, or get to, all the numerous fairs etc.

I've put my 'Want' on the site..... (Plain Brass or Enamelled Brass Matchbox Holder advertising 'Blue Cross' Matches)
Only problem I encountered was.... Not being very Computer Savvy - I couldn't work out how I was supposed to add any pictures - So ended up just leaving a description.

I was only able to put on my 'Want'.......
As I have a lot of varied things I have collected over the years - Is it also possible for me to view the site for things that other fellow collectors are after - Just in case I might have a spare that I could pass on ???

Best Wishes - Andrew Steer (talltinman)

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the comments :-)

Apologies for the radio silence we've been inundated with requests many of which have come from members of this forum (which is fantastic!).

We've also taken your feedback onboard and have built in a new 'view requests' option - here you can respond to any requests if you have matching or like items you wish to sell.

Once again thanks for your requests! Just a few weeks ago this was merely an idea and we've since been working hard to build a new intuitive website. Here it should be very simple to attach pictures in the new step by step guide. If you need any guidance please don't hesitate to email us at hello@notatauction.co.uk

Thanks Again and please keep posting and responding to requests.

Chris (and Tom)

A good idea which obviously wasn't followed through. I get the impression its like trying to start a rival to eBay or Starbucks. You were always on a hiding to nothing.

Jez is on the button - like it or loathe it Ebay is way out in front even though its swamped with thousands of s**t signs from China etc. and wants to turn itself into another Amazon. Even Gumtree is small fry.Its part of any collectors' language now and, realistically, cannot be beaten for choice and coverage.
