Three more sleeps before we offer a warm welcome to everyone from all corners of the UK (including Wales), Europe (France, Germany….. Iceland - oo-er, say nowt), North America, Australasia… and a few 'littler places'. PLEASE NOBODY IN ELSECAR BEFORE 4pm FRIDAY - MUCH TO DO! There's plenty of goodies promised on sales stalls… I continue to laff at all who say "it's all picked over before the show opens", then we get complaints that folks haven't set up - looking round… which means ANYONE who is at such a stall gets first pick - probs when all the other stallholders have been and gone. AND - there's fresh stock comes out all week-end, as we've learnt! Pleeeeeeeeenty of new faces, some old hands ("not stood a bottle show for over 20 yrs!"), in fact the hall is full to bursting (tho' we had a cancellation today - a hospital trip), & the Car Boot… oops "car rear sale" is the biggest ever - again, I reckon maybe anyones BEST £15 spend ever - a stall guaranteed. FREE CAMPING opposite the Heritage Centre COMPETITIONS & DISPLAYS - £400 CASH PRIZES - late entries email me direct: alan@onlinebbr.com, & a BIG FREE BUFFET @ the SAturday night social |

Totally agree Ross - it was a wonderful weekend as always. Alan Blakeman and his team deserve all our thanks for once again superbly organizing this great event. The only downside was as usual I spent way too much money, again!! Regards Richard |

NEVER gets any easier - thanks to BMBC. Grateful thanks ARE much appreciated after all the sh**e thrown at us. We get on & just 'do it' - after almost 4 decades we solve problems/ issues. Sometimes I bark @ you - but only if you deserve it. Stallholder issues continue to niggle (always the same handful) but I continue, which some do openly say thanks for. One well known Advertising 'connoisseur of old' grumbled all Sunday at having to pay £6 to get in…… wonder if these folk grumble at Newark stall rates, or entry & food prices - given half the tat there is repro. The UK SummerNational takes place on the first w/e of the year & there's no reason ANYONE should not support it - for our hobby's sake. Use it or lose it. Off soapbox. Costs ever rise… but there are dark clouds ahead and I must get thinking cap on if there is to be more SummerNationals as we know them. It already tots up to a 5 figure sum, but folk just don't understand the background to a two day show like this!!! |

Anyone who has hosted a show (that includes me) appreciates just how hard it is. There were issues again with access which were overcome without too much argument. All the BBR staff worked really hard with a smile on their faces (through clenched teeth sometimes?). So well done to all I really enjoyed it especially our socials at the Premier Inn. Great to catch up with forum members and really enjoyed the sign collectors informal gathering - don't know what I can bring along next time compared to the Big Guns Mr Burton brought out. Cheers Al and Clare et al, here's to next year - Jez |
