Stoneware night at the ' bottle club ' tonite. Taking along a few bits .....amazing how good a few things look when you put them together.

Ross, are those pieces in a particular style? And what was the piece with multiple spouts used for - is it some kind of burner? Really interesting.

No,

They range from German 18th century Bellarmines,( imported in there 100's of thousands ) although chucked away and dug in Dorking Surrey in 1952 !! - through the early Soho. T Wallis varnish jar, to 2 ' Brampton ' pieces the Toby and the Puzzle Jug ( both c 1830 -50 ) to the 1850's - 1870's little shoe which might have been for tapers, or matches , spills etc or just a little ' end of day ' piece for a child.

The puzzle jug is from a history of pub drinking games, you have to try and drink from the jug, covering various holes and spouts. If you got it wrong you got a shower of ale !

Super Toby jug.

The drinking game jug looks sure to get you wet what ever you do.

Thanks for the info Lummox and thanks for showing them. I'm amazed that the drinking game jug survived with all its spouts intact.
