It's a fair offer, but I'll pay a bit more than that if you want to sell it privately.

Nice one Lummox, I could not find the picture. Brand introduced 1892 and only had a short life which makes the packet very rare. Good one Alan if you manged to buy it.

Hi dcollections,

Interested in any early tins that you may want to sell tobacco or cigarettes contact:: (t.bacco@btinternet.com).

Greetings everybody - Just incase anybody was trying to find the Muratti packet on ebay, I have removed the listing until I decide which way to go with it, I still have it and have not accepted any offers for it as of this time.
If you are interested please drop me a line, dccollector55@gmail.com
I am not a dealer, I have just inherited this and know nothing about it - hence my contacting this forum with you wonderfully helpful people onboard.
regards
Dave

Hello Dave. Without hands-on or more close-up images, difficult to give an accurate appraisal. I'm a collector, not a dealer though. From the images, there is nothing that obviously pops out as being particularly valuable. A lot appear to be quite common in all honesty.

I've noticed on eBay bundling a few tins together based on their original contents can bring about higher bids; stick a few medical tins together, toffee/sweets, ciggy/bacco etc.

Hope this helps?

 Hi,

Many thanks for your reply - i realise thatits impossible to give an opinion without having the item in your hands - i have been doing what you advised, iv got rid of about 200 or so on ebay in the last few months and they are going to about 10 different people/collectors, iv had a few nice surprises along the way and this one that i have now seems to be a rare item.

Regards

Dave

Nice one Dave, personally I would have let it run on ebay, ....................you never know !!

I find if I list 10 things on an ebay auction. 6 or 7 go exactly as planned, 1 will bomb and 2 will go stupid, more than compensating for the 1 failure.

lummox

ps great collection of pkts sold recently by an auctioneer who usually does medals & militaria, many the same as yours in there !

I just thought I would share a recent attempt to rip me off by Hermes in the hope that if other people are for-warned!. I have sold over 100 items recently on the bay and usually use the Royal Mail to send things as a small parcel for £2.80. After getting fed up with waiting in the post office to be served I started sending all my items with Hermes for £2.63 for what they call a small parcel - the same size as RM being 45 x 35 x 16 and up to 2kg. A few days after sending some items I got 2 emails saying I had gone over the size limit and for that they were stinging me with a £4.17 surcharge for each item. I paid up and the following week I made certain my items were under size so was amazed when I got another email asking for another £4.17
I knew then that this was the way they were getting the difference in price back by what they had reduced the parcels cost down by, I informed them that I was disputing this and that I would not be paying and that they could return my parcel to me so that I could then take it to my local police station and make a report that I was the victim of an attempted fraud and that I would like to make a statement to that effect.
My parcel was not returned to me and was subsequently delivered to its destination - I don't know if they will be coming after me for the difference but somehow I doubt it.
Placing a £4.17 surcharge on every 24th parcel they handle will make them all cost £2.80 each, call me a cynic but I wonder just how many parcels get this "oversize theft (sorry , charge)" on them, I bet that it will be about every 24th one they put in the system.
Am I alone in this?
