Hi, Can anyone give any info on this paper mache tobacco box

i was told it could be a shop counter snuff box , but  not sure as it

seams to big to me (5"x3"x2" high ) it reads SMOKE M&R PEACOCKS

TOBACCO &CIGARS.  was that that name of the shop ?

Also is it pre cigarettes and does it have much value.

Cheers Keith

Keith,
This box is early possibly American. Date about 1850-60. It predates the first printed tins, was most likely the best option for keeping the baccy or cigars dry.
Not a massive value, my guess is £30-50.
Cheers,
Jez
Ps see you at Malvern? I bought the sauce bottles off you!
