Gotta love lot #266. One of the creepiest pieces of advertising!

Yes lot266 is vile. A revolting image done incompetently too.
I can't believe it's got estimates between 2000-6000 euros.

Dear Hinkslamps,

You can always have an opinion, but bashing is so 2015.
Such a pity.
It is a historical piece where only one is known.

The Heinz compny would probably love to own this sign.

ps
What I have heard is that there is a lot of interest in this sign !!! 2000 is the limit and 6000 is the estimate.

Hi Langcat,
Yes it's just my opinion - but I bet I'm not alone in finding that sign disgusting.
I'd also point out that just because something is rare it isn't necessarily desirable - unless of course you're only interested in the financial side of collecting.
In which case you might as well have a collection of anything that's rare as long as it gets a lot of money in auction. How grim.
I couldn't bear to have that in my house anyway.
I'd pay someone 2000 euros to get rid of it!

I agree that if something is thought to be unique then it has a certain historical interest.
But I don't see why that means we ought not to be able to say how bad/ugly it is.
There's a rich tradition of slagging signs/sellers/eBay off on this forum.
That's one of the things that makes it interesting.

I think artistically there's some real stylish signs in here. I think the Jonnie ginger sign is repulsive, it creeps me out and I wouldn't give over a fiver for one but others like it and it's subjective. I think we have to respect these as being culturally very different to U.K ones but stylistically there's still a strong market for them

Yes a lot of the foreign signs are extremely stylish; they just somehow don't appeal to me as much as GB signs on the whole.

Had a little talk with the auctioneer and explained that Dutch and Belgian collectors are not accustomed to register for online bidding;-)

He has now agreed that if anyone finds it to complicated to register and place bids, there is the possibility now to give the bids through a simple email. Mention in the mail:

Your full name
phone nr.
Address
Lot.no. - price
Lot.no. - price
Lot.no. - price etc etc

As a condition he has said that you have to put the following sentence in the mail:

"I have read the conditions as listed in the catalog and agree to accept them."

If mail is received, you will receive a confirmation.

"Something wrong with these signs" I can't believe anyone is speaking negatively about this superb collection of enamels.
