Four signs went through Chiswick Auctions today, making a hammer price of £1600 (against auctioneer's estimate of £100-200!!!) plus a nice round 30%, (if bidding through saleroom.com.) Condition of all items looks good, although the thermometer tube was smashed/missing. Though quite rare, I don't think the Bolenium sign would be my favourite in the group!

Even bidding by hand would be over £2,000 . I was in the area and left a  £1k bid earlier in the day. When I rang to check the result the woman on the other end of the phone nearly died of shock when she checked the result on her computer. She confided in me that the ' valuer' was expecting £350 to £400 ..................experts eh !

No bargains there, but to be fair the hammer price was about on the mark?? small Rowntrees strip £350, Lyons therm. £200, Sqaure Rowntrees (looks in very good nick) £700 - £800??, Big Bill £250 - £350. Any other forum members wish to comment?

Agree with your valuations Steve, it's the commission that's the killer

Looks like a composite photo to me - the shadows don't look right -, so sizes may not be to same scale???
