This "White Star"-Dominion Line purchased at the BBR National last weekend did not actually exist. It was a title given to a passenger service operated jointly by White Star Line and Dominion Line, both of which were part of the J.P.Morgan International Mercantile Marine. The service operated from1908 until 1926 aithough Dominion Line effectively ceaserd to exist in 1921..

I think this is SS Canada built at Harland & Wolff Belfast. Launched in 1896 and served as a troop transport during the Boer War (!899-1902) . In 1914 she was again used as a troop ship and as an accommodation ship for German prisoners. In 1926 she made her final voyage to Canada and was scrapped in Italy.

 Hi Broadie,

Thanks for your comments. It was a good fair and I managed to purchase a few nice items.

The J & T Hodge's "Natural Leaf" tobacco tin posted. is the first I have had of this firm . The company was founded in 1825 based at 30, Ninian St, Glasgow. They were the first in Scotland to manufacture cigarettes: "Texan Smokes" - "New Orleans" and "Hand Cut" are some of their brands. My "Natural Leaf" tobacco brand was introduced in 1900. In 1908, they were taken over by G. Dobie & Son Clark St, Paisley but retained the Hodge brands.
