Don't see many old Nestles tins. Went on eBay recently. Nice lid. Anyone have any knowledge here?

You know what hilbert, you're right. Considering that Nestle are the biggest food company in the world and they have been around for ever you really don't see many old tins with their branding.

Hi Jez. I guess Nestle bought Rowntree out and messed with the local economy?

No, Nestle made a hostile takeover and all of the archives were destroyed under order. All that history gone in a matter of hours, dumped by Rowntrees workers in landfill sites under supervision of security so no they ain’t popular in York.

The guy in charge had no interest in Rowntrees just in profit.
At least now they acknowledge their past and employ an archivist

What's the point of an archivist without an archive?

Well there are the Nestle group archives, what is left of the Rowntree collection and donations that have been made. I think a lot of company archives have deteriated over the years, frys are now with a museum in Bristol and hopefully some with Cadbury
