Hey everyone, this is my first post here. My name's Simon, I live in West London. I've purchased a couple of bits on here already.
My collectable fetish is centred around small items of militaria from both WWI and WWII, and more particularly cigarette and tobacco packets of the same era, nothing later than 1950. I love the way these were marketed, "scientifically blended tobacco's for the discerning smoker, cool on the throat, oriental luxury" etc etc :) Also the lovely colourings and designs of the packages. I feel in years to come these can only appreciate in value as the modern packets now are all covered in health warnings and pictures of unhealthy bodies and organs. I also love how there was such a smoking culture at this point in history, and how it was such a huge part of 20th century early development.
So, I purchase only full and generally still sealed packets of cigarettes or tobacco. I believe the rarest items I have in my collection are some packets of lucky strike from the era of WWII. These were very popular amongst the US servicemen and women. Also, of course the WWI Princess Mary tin with nearly all the orginal contents. Pics attached. And, a couple of the NAZI boxes I think are very rare, pre-war propaganda for the Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine, also the Trommler which were popular in the SA.
What are your most prized rare items?
