I really enjoyed that, definitely pre-globalization. Nowadays everything made in China with mechanized machines. That was a glimpse into the last holdouts from the industrial revolution when there were still humsn inputs to production

Yes the film of the Sheffield factory was amazing; and also the shed made of enamel signs was very cool.
Thanks for the link - I've been looking into this series 'Bygones'; hadn't heard of it before - but the bits of it I can find are full of the most amazing films.

Many thanks for posting the link. Great little programme. It took me back to the time I lived in Sheffield in the late '70s! I remember nosing around some old industrial buildings, and just wandered into a little mester's workshop, accessed by a little flight of stairs. There were part-made knife blades left scattered over the bench, with rags and rusting Thunder Clouds tobacco tins, as if someone had just put down their tools and walked out! Sure that's all long-gone now!
