Might be way out of touch, but just been watching 'Aussie Pickers' on Dave, at 7 oclock, and its Friday. Its a totally double take on the American version, with the dippy wooden female on the phone with a typical script , the same white van, the two blokes pretending to barter, but some of the advertising, the most important bit, is stunning? Forgive me if everyone knows of this prog, but some might not?

Its all staged anyways, we had a stupid program in Canada called Canadian Pickers, only lasted a few seasons, couple of rednecks out driving around in a van spending countless amounts of money on gas, food, hotels etc etc etc, only to find the bargain of the century by buying something worth 20 and flipping it for 40, big profits after expenses LOL !!

Apparently the American Pickers program fly's in the two dummies and they meet the crew on site, who are usually there 5-10 days. They spend a few hours staging shots and take off, the van is just a prop, everything gets shipped back to them, must be missing something here?????

Mick, I do actually know two guys who really do it for a living. They spend at least half the year driving around Australia finding stuff, I don't know how they do it ?? I started two weeks holidays Wednesday, I spent Thursday and Friday driving around the country side and found diddly squat !!

I'm sure the American show has changed things for Mike and Frank, one of the last shows I saw, Danni D said they had over 600 outstanding leads on their books. I think a lot of people want to get their heads on TV, that's why they call them. Mike's estimated wealth today is between $4 -7,000,000, so the show has definitely made them wealthy men. No doubt most of the shows are staged these days due to their popularity. If you watch a lot of their early shows, you can tell when it's not staged.

All these shows are staged, US Pickers, Aussie Pickers, Storage Wars, Salvage hunters etc etc. Interesting Items are borrowed from specialist collectors and retailers to be bought ( NOT ) .... then they pretend to take it to the actual owner who will price and explain whilst getting free advertising for their business. Watch to see the hoarders , the collections and good stuff .... BUT don't watch to see the gems purchased because its just not happening.
