Any help please with dating this large Colemans box and how it was used. The box is 23.5 inches length and 7.5 inches high.

Slight confusion on what it was used for. It is all original with no changes The Bulls head appears to have been the base as sides and top are in line The top having the hook and eyes. and in very good condition ,not reversed...A shelf or compartment seperating piece of wood is missing  (slots for this in the ends)

I would think it is too large for a shop counter..also why have all this advertising on the base? and nothing on the back and front

The answer is probably simple At the moment I cannot see it

Re Colemans box..The back and front are in line when the box is stood upright ..the missing wood then  becomes a shelf The lid dropping down to the "ground"

I reckon some bods in the shop made their own display stand out of bits of boxes! Cool thing

Could be an early counter display .
Place it on the counter with the base facing the customer .
Looks to me like the lid could be detached and may fit into the slots for a shelf .
Product dislayed on the top
Product stored on the shopkeepers side

Nice box

Sorry Ken , just the wannabe Grocer coming out in me .
I'll get me hat and coat ... Chris
