This pair of die-cut Player's "Weight's showcards were in need of a little restoration but are now in fair condition. Nice to see they have survivied as they are quite delicate. In 1877,John Player & Sons took over a tobacco manufacturing business founded in 1830 by a William Wright They became one of the largest tobacco manufacturer.s in the UK, based at Castle Tobacco Factory, Nottingham. They became a branch of the Imperial Tobacco Co, Ltd in 1901. They did most of their own in-house advertising showcards etc etc. "Weights" brand was first introduced in 1899 and was very popular, still available in the 1980s. Any other forum members have any "Weight's" showcards to post.

Thanks Lummox for turning the photo's around. Glad you and Alan like them as they are quite rare items to survive. This framed Player's  "Weight's"  showcard by illustrator "Tom Brown" is full of humour and one of my favourites.
