Hello

I was feeling a bit guilty at not posting much on this site, I do like the signs. Anyhow here are two of mine and a question please.

Can anybody explain the transfer system used to get such minute detail on these signs. I realize they were fired a number of times at high temp. My only knowledge of transfers were the type supplied with old Airfix plastic models.

So I assme these are some type of fire proof transler firstly prepared with coloured 'glass'powder and applied on the ast firing?

I have always wondered.....not thinking of trying it myself.

If the pics have not uploaded I am afraid I have failed again.

Cheers Flat Fish

Can’t answer your question but thanks for posting the pictures. You have cracked the mystery of how to upload pictures. That is an interesting sign and in great condition.

Great Sign

Theres quite a big section in the large Street Jewellery enamel sign book by Bagley & Morley about how signs were manufactured

Good afternoon

This was my first buy that started my collection.

About 1985 in a West Wales antique shop along with a small Hudsons.

In the same village was a Raleigh sign in Welsh on an ironmongers, not selling of course as he said he had had plenty of offers..

I think the heavy enamelling really adds to the signs.

Cheers FF

 Hi

Yes I kept the little Hudsons.

One or two I have let go over he years but I keep most things.

A few stolen a couple of years ago, luckily no real gems amongst them but a lovely Wills flag stick out sign green and white.

Worth a seperate post when I get around to it. They are out there somewhere.

Anyhow partly my fault for letting a scrap man into the garage.......

Yes, all original, somebody must have given the bottom one a clout when fixing
