Hello everyone. New here and wondered if anyone is into old neon motoring signs? I've got a small collection amongst all my other automobilia, and it's always interesting to make contact with other enthusiasts.

 Hi Gordo,

I'm in the UK, where the neon sign was usually a fairly small item, maybe 400-500mm by 1000-1200mm, used in dealer showrooms. I'll dig out a few photos and work out how to upload them!

I used to have a motoring bookshop, and wanted to have a neon on display, but found that the ones I found for sale were not known to be working, had no transformers and generally the vendors knew nothing about them. So I ended up finding out all I could about them, and now have about twenty - and can get hold of transformers or get them repaired if needed. American neons are often huge, outlining big enamel signs outside of dealer showrooms. Very expensive and collectable, but not very practical! At least I can keep a few without having to rent an aircraft hangar!

I was the under bidder on a big Wrigleys neon sign about four years ago. The problem I had is the thing must have been 2 metres x 1.5 metres, so it would have been really hard to move around safely. That's why I got scared and stop bidding. They do look great lit up though, although that doesn't help me living in SA where we have got the highest electricity prices in the world.

Im after a transformer for an old Brillite sign i recently bought. Can you send me the details of where these can be sourced. Also do you have any neons for sale?

Thanks Wayne
