Anyone remember drinking up time being 10.30? 10 on Sundays? The rush to the bar when the bell rang... then about 10 minutes to down the 'one for the road'. Hated it on Sunday... last pint before work on Monday morning!

just got this from a house clearance.

Up North the BELL was the signal to get at least 3 pints in per person, before you moved onto the nightclub. Sunday nights in York was rugby players night out, so there was bound to be one or two heading out through the window. Ah... the good old days.... Nowadays its just boring drugs and drinking at home, (apparently).

I thought the ‘morning period’ was 11am to 3pm and evening was 5 - 11pm during the week and Saturday and 1030 Sunday, or is my memory completely shot. I used to sometimes drink in Yates Wine Lodge, there were 3 of them all on Oldham Street in Manchester. Yates’ always closed half an hour earlier than the pubs, so it was a race to get the Blobs in time to get last orders in the pub.
