Not sure of the use this bowl was put to ,It came from an old shop..Says on the side "toffees must be wrapped in paper bearing the name of Sharps"..Was it,  as it seems  a counter display bowl ?..7.5 inches diameter  Anybody cast any light on this ? Window display ?

Wow that's excellent Ken. I can't imaging what else it might be but a counter display. Hopefully someone knows. Not really suitable for a dog bowl.

Great little item Ken. Never seen one before. The thick rim was difficult to achieve in the finishing process! Heavy presses were required BWM installing its big tin presses in 1920 to make trays. I'd date this bowl to the 1920s. Sampling was not common in those days other than at exhibitions/trade shows. It could date from the launch of Super-Kreem toffee c1919. A chap called Nobby Clark used to travel around Britain dressed up as Sir Kreemy Knut promoting the brand. Was it a recent find?
ps Does anyone know why Sharp's duplicated its tins in blue as well as orange?
Be good to see MORE Sharp's items on this thread?

Thanks for comments ..Bought this full diplay tin at the same time..lovely condition dummy sweets age unknown !!  Auction of bits from an old Sutton in Ashfield shop...Thick plastic cover square recess in the middle where Sharps parrot is. Wandered whether it could also act as a change tray (plastic would get scratched ?)

Brian..the research you do for your own collection and talks you give you should write a book..seriously

I've got these two pics. I've added a couple more sharps since but can't get to them right now.

Thanks Ken... perhaps after I retire, If I ever retire?
I think the recess in your Sharp's display box held a white 1960's style ash tray advertising Sharp's toffee. The ash trays do turn up and are usually quite cheap.
GREAT Sharp's display's Hilbert. Love that Britains hollowcast figure.
...More Sharp's PLEASE? Anyone got the enamel sign to show? Pity they never did Sir Kreemy Knut as a counter top figurine.

Hilbert, that’s a very sweet collection of Kreemy, he must be one of the best character creations for advertising.
