Hi all, I thought I'd share my process of cleaning my enamel signs, but can be used on any tin signs too.

As well as collecting signs I'm very much into car detailing and have been for around 30 years,

so i keep an eye on new products. This one has been out a few years now, its what they call

a "fallout remover" basically it dissolves iron deposits from car exteriors.

It contains no acids or nasty chemicals, very safe to use even on delicate surfaces.

So Yesterday I tried it out and the results are amazing. This one sign, had rust streaks from hanging

on a bracket, that no matter what I tried would not remove. But this stuff worked wonders.

Gyeon iron remover, about £10 online.

There are other removers out there, but I use Gyeon as their products work well and have a great

reputation.

After wiping off the sign with paper towels and wet wipes, I then "clayed" the sign, this removes stuck on contamination.

just google "detailing clay" again about a tenner.

Before and after shots, look at the amount of crud it removed to give

a glass smooth surface.

Finishing touch, a couple of coats of old skool carnauba wax to really make really make the sign pop.

The final amazing results.

I hope this helps any of you guys out, as I'd looked online for rust removal and all you seem to get is Coca Cola and

tin foil, corrosive acid and a load of other rubbish products that don't work. As you can see, this one does!

All the best, Mark

Wow, that’s fantastic Mark. Does it work on all types of rust marks? I assume you dab the clay on the surface.

As long as the particulates are iron based I can't see no reason why it shouldn't.

ive used it on car clear coat paint, wheels, glass etc

id imagine you can use it on anything, but best try an area first of fabric but

i would think it's totally safe if it's designed to use on your Ferrari!

using the clay bar is very easy, depending on the bar bought, you can use water or a detailing spray as a lubricant.  You just gently rub the clay over the surface and it "pulls" any imbedded contamination out, it's great stuff and leaves the surface like glass.
