I've had two Rowntree's enamel signs off shops in England, and both were green, so it can't have been an exclusive arrangement! I'd wondered if it was perhaps more that it was the shopkeepers' choice?

Iv been looking all night just for one that looks the same but no joy yet if any of you good people have one the same. But I don’t know if I want to sell it or not

Hi Ozzie, This is the one I used to have, that came off an old shop in Sheffield. Same green, and similar colourful coats of arms at corners, but 'MAKERS TO T.M. THE KING & QUEEN'. I always thought that if it just said 'TO THE QUEEN' that was a reference to Queen Victoria, and hence it would be earlier, but Steve the Tyke was indicating on another thread that that was not necessarily the case.

The red one's a rare version. Interesting it says 'H.M.THE QUEEN' and no coats of arms at all!

The green one is the same apart from the writing around the coat of arms. Think I’ll just send some pictures to dealers and see if they can help me as

Here's four Rowntrees. Green and yellow seem to be popular colour choices.Don't agree with Jimbo about the Irish connection. Can vouch for two of the above coming off shops in England.
