W.H & J. Woods Ltd, Tobacco & Cigarette manufacturer, were founded in 1800 and based at Derby St, Preston. (Moving later to Church St). This very old company, produced mainly tobacco & snuff moving to manufacture cigarettes in the latter part of the 19th century. Some of their packets and tins are very desirable by collectors and example posted is this "Purple Heather" owned by a friend but a good example of the many I have seen.

 This is another nice tin from the same company which I have shown before. "Too Good" Gold Flake introduced in 1894.

The Too Good is certainly too good   !

 Glad you like it relics it is one of my nicer tins. The distressed shwcard which I tried to purchase is the only one I have ever come across. When I contacted the owner much later, he had given the showcard and his few tins to the Preston museum. Also, posted is the "Perfection Flake" tin which was very popular.
