Great cab.....Always thought these Lupinsky cabinets were repurposed Muratti cabinets done at the manufacturer.....identical drawer corners, handles and pediment..was always tempted to try and remove the wooden advertising fascia to the pediment to see if theres an earlier mirrored version underneath....a good elegant design

 Hi Lummox,

Nice cabinet and quite a rare item. Lupinsky & Lockyer partnership began in 1882 at, 24, Stamford St, SE became Richard Lockyer & Co in 1900 and moved to 12-14, Bath St, EC & 13, Bunhill Row EC. Over the years moved to several other addreses. Richard Lockyer died in 1921 and the firm became Lockyer & Co, Ltd. It was probably the only firm to continue to sell cigarettes by weight up to the early 60s. Records show that the brand names on your cabinet were first introduced in 1898. Other popular brands of this company were "Palm Brand" - "Red Cross" - "White Czar" & "Windsor Castle to name but a few.

bacco
