I'm really happy with it, great colours and gloss. But I feel the need for a bit of a touchup. |

Does anybody out there have a name of a colour blue they have used before, similar to background colour. I had a bit of a go trying to get that bluey/ purple background colour and just can't get it close enough. Cheers Gordo |

Its the eternal question Gordo - nearest I found was cobalt blue, passable but still not quite right! |

I used to use a white base coat, with a cobalt blue artists acrylic paint. Got an excellent colour match, but lacked the gloss, so finished off with a clear lacquer, applied all over with an airbrush.
It's not the best photo, I know, but there was a section of enamel about 10cm wide missing, that extended down into the top quarter of the 'N'. I was pleased with it anyway! |

Ok thanks for advice. I do have a dried up pot of a car paint called Lobelia, which again is close....but. Might have to go back to the auto charts and have a squiz. |

Strangely all the best restorers of enamel signs (ie) The Godfather, et al will tell you that surprisingly dark blue is the hardest sign colour to match lummox |

I personally don't like them retouched, it's all part of their history and any that have been, I'm always avoiding .... but that's just me :) |
