Picked up this showcard for "Nimble Dick" cigarettes manufactured by an old company Franklyn Davey, Ashton Gate, Bristol. Established 1780. This brand was first introduced in 1901 withdrawn 1948. The trade mark was the Prince of Wales Feathers. "Loadstone"- "Nimble Dick" and "Honey Dew" were some of the most popular brands. They became a member of the ITC in 1901. In 1957 the company was absorbed into teh Edwards, Ringer & Bigg Branch. Have also posted one of this companies early showcards for "Navy Cut"

Your quite right, it is always nice to see advertising from rare brands although, were the brand name comes from god knows. My friend has the packet which which I will show shortly. I have posted one of this firms "Honey Dew" cigarettes tins introduced in 1920.

 This cigarette packet "Nimble Dick" is much earlier than the one illustrated on the above showcard. The Franklyn Davey showcard posted is sadly a copy but it is one I have not come across before. Many showcards were copied by Breweries for display in pubs.
