Hi All, New to this forum and just after some advice on this Wills's Cigarettes display advertising card that I have recently obtained (i believe these were shop/pub displays that could be kept on the shop counter or pub bar)

As you can see from the photos its in really good condition which made me think it was a copy but when you look at the back it does appear to have the correct carboard stand etc (I guess it could be that it was never put on display?) and is showing signs of rust. Can't seem to find any of this particular sign online either!!

Any help or advice regarding whether its original or a copy and the age etc would be gratefully received.

Hi . It's definitely original not a copy .Looks to be made of cellulose , and is probably late 30's to 40's . Bacco will tell you for sure.

Yep definitely 100% right, Tin showcards with a celluloid cover and a cardboard back were mainly produced from the mid to late 1920's through to the 1960's. The biggest range was for Guinness with I think around 300 sifferent examples.

The type of stand on this one makes me think it is before WWII

Nice find & welcome to the forum

Thanks Trixon and Lummox - much appreciated. Amazed to know they are circa 80 years old! I also have another couple (Wills Woodbines and Golden Virginia) again both in excellent condition. Any idea of the value of these type of items?

Without pictures and condition etc it is impossible to give a value on any item, If you want to know exactly what they are worth stick em on ebay

Hi Again - These are the others I have obtained along with a larger Wills Golden Flake which is in a frame (though back of the frame showing signs of age). If anyone could tell me more about the Wills Golden Flake it would be appreciated.

 Hi Chrispy1,

I agree with Trixon and Lummox, these type of showcards introduced late 1920's which were displayed on shop counter or hung on the wall. The most popular of these showcards are the sporty type like those I have posted. Your Will's "Gold Flake" cigarettes brand first introduced in 1910 and still available in 1960s. I think yours is about 1930s. Most tobacco/cigarette manufacturers did a "Gold Flake".

(Can someone turn pictures around please) Admin...Sorry Bacco won't let me spin um for some reason ?

Hi  Chrispy . Your Wills Woodbines Dockyard scene ,again a cellulose showcard, is the most desirable of the ones you have shown, and would edge the others pricewise. Hope this helps.
