I came across this collection box recently at a fair..the three tin plaques attracted me with embossed.flag and lifebelt ..It was £150 ,whether this was cheap or dear did not bother me ...I really liked it..It is approx13 by 6 inches with key.The postman is handing over the elderly retired seaman his pension..pension day at the bottom. It is now part of my collection even though I do not collect collection boxes I think 1890s..Am I right ?

Certainly different Ken. Doesn't matter whether you collect those boxes so long as you like it then money should not come into it. Probably right about the date but others more knowledgeable will probably know. Nice thing. Well done.

Very unusual piece Kennet
I would think late 1800s early 1900s
Nice find . Think I would have bought it as well .

Hi Ken . Prince Alfred , Duke of Edinburgh , was made Admiral of the Fleet, in 1893 .so you would be pretty much spot-on with the date. The Rowntrees jar at £55 was a VERY good buy . P.S . What were you doing out and about at a fair when you should be avoiding contact now us over 70's have been confined to barracks !
