This "Smiling Morn" cigarette tin, manufactured by H.Archer & Co, Tobacco/Snuff manufacturers of 170, Borough High St, London SE, founded 1790, so quite an old company. They merged with R & J Hill Ltd in 1905 and moved to 66, Great Eastern St, London EC. You can just make out the brand name on this paper label  "Smiling Morn" tin although her smile leaves a lot to be desired. This brand was brought out in 1897 and had 15 cigarettes in the tin so you can imagine the size. It is a bit of a rarity. Some of this firms other brands were "Archer's Navy Cut" - "Bound to Win" - "Zouave" and "Infant Plant" etc etc. Do any forum members have any of this firms items ??????

Broadie sent me this picture of H Archer & Co Glass shield advertising "Infant Plant" tobacco & cigarettes. There is also a picture of the " Infant Plant" cigarette packet .This brand was first  introduced in 1881 which makes it a very early and was withdrawn in 1939.
